London’s housing crisis means we need homes and we need them fast. The Mayor has masses of GLA-owned land. That’s why Labour’s alternative budget amendment proposes the Mayor take some of that land and uses it to kick start a pipeline of fast-build, energy-efficient housing, which can be up in a matter of weeks.
I spoke about this idea at Wednesday’s budget debate. This morning, Sunday Politics explored the idea in more detail with a news piece and discussion, including an interview with me. You can view the episode here (approximately 53 minutes into video).
Stay tuned to the blog over the next few days for more information on how fast-build, energy-efficient housing is one piece of the puzzle to solving the housing crisis, and how it can do so whilst saving families over £1,000 on their annual energy bills.
