Affordable housing: what’s our Olympic Legacy?

We were told that the Olympic Park would be different. As the Mayor lets through more and more luxury developments with pitiful levels of affordable housing, the homes planned for the Olympic site were meant to buck the trend and provide the housing Londoners need at rents and costs Londoners can afford.

But now we’re being told that plans to accelerate development is making those affordable housing levels unviable. And that’s being used as an excuse by the London Legacy Development Corporation, which is chaired by Boris, to drive down levels of affordable housing.

This is unacceptable.

I will challenge the LLDC leadership on this issue at this morning’s plenary session of the London Assembly. You can watch the webcast here live from 10am.
