Why I support Lucy Anderson in Labour Euro selections

Labour members are spoiled for choice in the Labour Euro selection. We have a strong group of passionate and competent candidates, any of whom London would be proud to have as our MEP in Brussels, but there is one that I am supporting for the top of the ballot: Lucy Anderson.

Lucy Anderson

Labour party members in London are receiving this letter on my behalf:

If you’ve not yet voted in the Labour Euro selection, there’s still time to make your vote count. I’m writing today to help put Lucy Anderson to the top of the list in the ballot which closes on 31 July.

I know Lucy through her work on the National Policy Forum and before that in the Mayor’s Office when I was deputy Mayor of London. Her role there gave her a deep understanding of Labour policy priorities for London and how to get things done.

The EU has been invaluable in protecting the environment, workers and consumers, and in promoting sustainable communities and defending human rights. I trust Lucy to fight for toughening up legally enforceable European targets for businesses on carbon emissions and to direct more EU funding into renewable energy technology and jobs.

Working with her campaigning across London I know first-hand that she is a fighter for Labour values and principles, and speaks out for what she knows to be right.

We have a great list of candidates but her experience marks her out. She will be a real asset for Labour and London as MEP.

If you haven’t already voted, please join me in supporting Lucy Anderson.

Very best,

PS You can find out more about Lucy or get in touch with her on her website: http://www.lucyanderson.org
