July Mayor’s Question Time

Boris Johnson has a real knack for making promises – it’s keeping them that he has trouble with.

This morning, the London Assembly Labour Group will challenge the Mayor on his broken manifesto promises and cuts at the July session of Mayor’s Question Time. Why are fares consistently rising despite a manifesto commitment to “ensure that fares will be lower in the long term”? Is he anywhere close to the 200,000 jobs he pledged to create directly through City Hall programmes? We’ll also stand up for the 3.8 million Londoners who will be outside fire response targets under Boris’ new plan when we ask him about his cuts to London’s emergency services.

You can watch the full session from the Chamber of City Hall, which is open to the public, or live online at http://www.london.gov.uk/webcasts/33164/asx

I am proud to welcome a group of students from Queens Park Community School to this month’s MQT. They will get to see democracy in action, and afterwards I will have a chat with them about London and the issues it faces.
