Mayor’s Question Time: Rising Rents and Housing Benefit Cuts

Mayor Boris Johnson and the rest of the Tory party justified drastic cuts to housing benefit by saying rents would go down. Yesterday, we learnt that rents have continued to rise dramatically in London, particularly on cheaper properties.

London is facing a housing crisis. And the Mayor isn’t doing anything to help those who can’t afford their rents.

I will challenge Boris on rising rents and housing benefit cuts this morning at Mayor’s Question Time. Watch me and my London Assembly colleagues press the Mayor on this and other important issues facing Londoners, live from 10am at http://www.london.gov.uk/who-runs-london/the-london-assembly/webcasts.

We think a CIC solution to housing, frees up part of the finance needed to re-balance the delivery equation with recycled profit that also supports each new community.
