Private Rented Sector under the spotlight

Nearly a quarter of London households rent from a private landlord but this sector remains a Wild West. With year-on-year inflation-busting rent increases, unscrupulous landlords, and numerous other criticisms levelled, the private rented sector has more than its fair share of problems. Today, the London Assembly’s Housing and Regeneration Committee takes a closer look at these problems and asks how private rent can work better for the millions of tenants who turn to it every year. You can watch the committee meeting from 10am online at http://www.london.gov.uk/who-runs-london/the-london-assembly/webcasts

Prior to the meeting, I joined activists outside City Hall to call for genuine reform of the sector.
