Boris’s Broken Promises #8: “Ensuring there is always a manned ticket office at every station”

In his 2008 transport manifesto, Boris Johnson promised to ensure “there is always a manned ticket office at every station”.

During the election campaign Johnson even signed a petition calling for London Underground to abandon plans to “drastically reduce the opening hours” of ticket offices.

On 11 March 2010 the Tory Mayor announced plans to reduce ticket office opening hours whilst axing 450 ticket office jobs for good measure.

Two weeks ago Boris sold himself to the electorate on Newsnight, asking:

“Do you want a Mayor who breaks his promises or one who keeps them?”

The facts speak for themselves; you cannot trust this Tory Mayor.
