London could be the seedbed for a better housing future

This Saturday I was lucky enough to be re-elected to the Labour Housing Group Executive Committee.

Jack Dromey MP, Labour’s Shadow Housing Minister, spoke at the AGM.

I was impressed by the breadth and depth of Labour’s rethinking on how we address the country’s housing crisis and by the leadership Jack is showing on his brief.

Jack discussed the need for exemplar local authorities to blaze a trail for new housing policies.

With Ken Livingstone’s proposals for a London Living Rent and a London-wide Lettings Agency already catching the public imagination and winning the support of Londoners. With a Labour Mayor I believe London could become that seedbed for a better housing future. So let’s make sure we get one.
